Abstract head sculpture made of dark stone with a smooth surface and minimalist design.

Soapstone

In 2017 I had carved this sculpture from soapstone that had fissures of light marbling over the darkest stone I could find. The colours represent a crack in a mirrored mask, while the unbalanced shoulders are the result of wearing a mask in the first place. When I perceive the weight of the world to be on my shoulders, my shoulders buckle and the mask I wear falters. I become a caricature of myself and I lose the mask I use to face the world.
